From May, 1st 2010 a team at the Faculty of Mass-Media Communication has started to work on a new curriculum - Media Relations in English language. The output of the project will be a new accreditation programme, and thus definitions of its individual subjects and teaching capacities. The launch of the new programme could happen in the academic year 2012/2013. After successful accreditation, the teaching of the new curriculum could begin in the academic year 2012/2013. The project is funded by the European Union. On this site we will gradually bring news about preparations for the project.

Project description

The strategic objective of the project is training and developing human resources in research and development in order to constantly adapt university to the needs of knowledge-based society. The objective of the project is directly related to the global objective of Operating programme Education, which aims to ensure long term competitiveness of Slovakia through the adaptation of education system to a knowledge-based society. The specific aim is to create Media Relations curriculum in English to promote international cooperation and academic mobility.

Media Relations will enable students to be educated in media and marketing in English, and thus make a wide range of graduates not only in Slovakia, but also abroad.

Terms of acceptance

The target group of the project are young people aged 19-23 years from domestic and external environment. In the first stage the programme will be launched for 40 students. The only condition for the target group is a successful completion of entrance examinations. In the case of selection of students the nationality, gender and socio-economic status are irrelevant as well as disability is no obstacle to enrollment. In the first phase there will be a Bachelor's degree program.

Subjects profiles

Subjects will be directed to knowledge of the media environment and work with journalists, the inclusion of media relations within the overall marketing communication tools and in particular the elements of public relations. However, it will result in practical subjects such as the acting in front of camera etc. The exact list of items will be finished in the year 2010.
