Doctoral Studies


Doctoral study programs at the Faculty of Mass Media Communication provide advanced knowledge based on the current state of scientific and artistic knowledge. They emphasize the student's original contribution through research and independent creative activity in the field of media studies.

Doctoral study programs are available in both full-time and part-time forms. The standard length of full-time study is three years, while part-time study lasts four years. In both forms, there is the possibility of a two-year extension. This flexibility allows students to balance their studies with professional and personal commitments.

Conditions for obtaining the PhD degree.:

  • Completion of the study part (compulsory and optional lectures),
  • activity in the scientific research field (publishing),
  • activity in the pedagogical field (teaching),
  • passing the dissertation examination,
  • writing and defending the dissertation.

What to expect

Research and creative activities

The core of the PhD program consists of original research or independent theoretical and creative activity. Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of topics in the field of media and communication under the guidance of experienced lecturers and teachers. The goal is to encourage innovation and contribute to a significant expansion of knowledge or practice in the field.

 

Skills Development

The program includes comprehensive academic and scientific skills development. This includes training in advanced research methods, academic writing, data analysis, and presentation skills.

PhD students will become part of a vibrant academic community and will have many opportunities to participate in seminars, workshops and conferences. Our faculty also organises various events that provide a space for presenting work and networking with professionals.

Support for international mobility is part of doctoral studies. Each PhD student completes a one-month study placement at a partner university, allowing them to gain new knowledge, make contacts, and enrich their research with global perspectives. As a result, graduates will not only gain professional knowledge but also a broad international perspective.
