The first play we staged was the musical The Fisherman and His Soul by Oscar Wilde in collaboration with Theatre Distance. In 2012, in the production of Three Sisters at the OKO Cinema, director Vladimír Frišták used his innovation in the form of Brecht's theatre in the characters of "X" and "Y", whose role was to comment on the action on stage. These roles are not in A's original manuscript. P. Chekhov's, but, of course, the meaning has been retained, where the point is whether we are living our dreams or dreaming our lives.

In the next academic year THE.ART.RE managed to rehearse two performances. The first was a one-act comedy by Miguel Cervantes Saavedra called In Divorce Court about the issue of marital relationships. The second was Tango, an absurd drama by Polish playwright Sławomir Mrozek, where the actors and actresses had the opportunity to show their months of work at the beginning of the academic year 2013/2014 at the Jan Palárik Theatre. Their tutor was prof. Mgr. Božidara Turzonovová, who was teaching artistic expression at the UCM FMK at that time. The performance was dedicated to the actor, teacher and director Jozef Adamovič. The volunteers grappled with philosophical questions about the search for the idea of life and its meaning.

The following academic year 2014/2015 was in the spirit of Didier Kaminka's crazy comedy under the new directorial direction of student Nicole Varga, entitled Just Don't Panic - about two unemployed guys who one day decide to rob a bank. However, the whole case involves the bank's employees, the bank's clients, and the police themselves. The play is a critique of material society. The premiere took place at the city's Hviezda Cinema. In addition, the students also performed at two theatre festivals: the KasiopeaFest in Budmerice and the Summer Theatre Festival in Košice.

In 2014/2015 the students rehearsed the comedy All the Best! by Ray Cooney. The production benefits from the mafia theme and the power of money - human corruptibility and avarice. A week before the premiere, the students managed to sell out the entire Jan Palárik Theatre in Trnava and won one of the main trophies - the Organiser's Prize - at the KasiopeaFest theatre festival in Budmerice (2015). They also took part in the Senica Theatre Fever, played for the inhabitants of Hlohovec in the Empire Theatre and had a reprise in the MSKS Senec Labyrinth, they also played in the Smrdáky Spa.

The premiere of David Gieselmann's play Plantation was staged in the 2016/2017 academic year at the Karol Spišák Old Theatre in Nitra. The production won an award at the Kassiopeafest for best director for Lucie Nagyová.

Despite the fact that the theatre has not missed anything in its entire existence , it has culminated its previous activities with the professional production Missed Conversations ( 2023/2024). The production was created on the boards of the Jan Palárik Theatre in Trnava, where the members had the opportunity to present their skills and experience that they have acquired over many years of authorial activity.

From year to year the theatre collective was folding into different forms, but for all those who met in it it represented a kind of escape. This was evidenced by the production Escape Exit (2022/2023), which was created under the direction of Michal Jánoš and had its premiere in Little Berlin. The Escape Exit reflected the perception of the actors, their private lives, but also their surroundings, and as during all the treatments of the themes, they brought their own point of view.

However, even before the collective felt the need to tell things through Escape Exit, they came across Turbulence (2021/2022). Despite Turbulence being unstable for many, THE.ART.RE brought the collective together and made them stronger. Turbulence premiered at the Jan Palárik Theatre and made a few shocks in more than one theatre. With that production they made it to FEDIM, something the collective never dreamed of in the pandemic period.

During the pandemic, the world came to a standstill, but THE.ART.RE carried on. What on earth would it look like if UCM students weren't working online? The online space allowed the theatre to create a social experiment Online Open Day (2020/2021). The latter turned out as predicted by the creative collective, which was again created under the direction of Michal Jánoš. Although the performance was not the theatre's first experiment, it was, unusually, the collective's first performance in collaboration with Michal.

In order to reflect on common needs and problems, the collective had to get to know each other. This was just a step towards the creation of the production of Isms in Us (2019/2020). Izmy premiered at the Empire Theatre in Hlohovec and was the last performance under the direction of Jakub Kňažek, who had the idea to re-establish the university theatre.

Experiment raj

Experiment paradise 2019.

The whole course was one big experiment, which, thanks to the students' passion and their common love for theatre, continues to persist and break through various collaborations in the professional sector. But how else could it have turned out when, in the spirit of the experiment, the collective collectively relaunched the theatre?

The Eden Experiment (2018/2019) is a production that was created based on scientific facts. The premiere of this production took place with the opening of the gates in the basement space of Jozef Herd and opened the doors to young people who, thanks to theatre, have also remained in academia or in the artistic sphere.The.Art.re Theatre took home the Student Organization of the Year Award for the 2023/2024 academic year.

In addition to the aforementioned productions , the theatre organizes various events such as the St. Nicholas Improliga and participates in collaborations such as Piešt'any by Winter (Trnava Region of Experiences). It also participates in various theatre events, such as the Small Regional Stage Harvest or the Academic Prešov.

Management of THE.ART.RE Theatre

After the successful graduation of the second head of the company, Tomáš Kramár, the theatre company did not work for a year until the return of former member Jakub Kňažek from Erasmus and the renewal of the tradition. After the successful graduation of Jakub Kňažek, Adriana Lizoňová and Barbora Martišková took over the management and continued to lead the theatre for a year after their graduation. From 2024/2025, Sebastián Lukáč and Klára Zubková took over the management of the theatre.

Premises and equipment

The collective currently meets in the UCM V Jama premises. The theatre has a basic technical park, which can be understood as: theatre spotlights, a structure for installing equipment, a mixing desk, microphones with stands, loudspeakers, cables. As well as the necessary installation tools and chairs.

The theatre ensemble has acquired the materials primarily thanks to the state subsidy for the development of culture and sport gradually during its operation since 2010. Although this equipment is the responsibility and responsibility of the theatre company, this does not preclude the use of the equipment by other students or student societies. Please feel free to contact the person currently in charge of the theatre company for any need to borrow sound or light equipment.
