Mass media communication
The study programme prepares students to work in the media and creative industries. It will improve their communication and analytical skills and teach them how to create different types of content.

Graduates of the Mass Media Communication programme are prepared for a wide range of career opportunities in television, radio, online media and print media. They also have the skills needed to work in organizations, cultural institutions in external communication oriented positions where they can effectively use their knowledge of communication and media. Their studies provide them with a comprehensive education and practical experience that makes them valuable professionals in the labour market, able to contribute to various media projects and campaigns.
Typical job roles:
- Video maker.
- Graphic Designer: Creates visual materials for media and marketing.
- Editor: Edits video footage for final production.
- Photojournalist: Photographs events and delivers footage to media.
- Editor/Reporter: Writes and edits articles, reports and news stories.
- PR Manager: Creates press releases, communicates with media and builds brand reputation.
- Social Media Manager: Communicates on behalf of the brand and creates content to engage fans and build community.
- Editor: Edits and redacts copy, and oversees content and its quality across different media outlets.
- Media Agency Worker: Creates and manages media and advertising campaigns.
Studying Mass Media Communication at FMK UCM will take you into the world of media, where you will learn how to create stories, write interesting texts, take photographs and shoot videos that will appeal to a wide audience. You will get the opportunity to work with modern technical equipment and get practice in real media projects. After graduation, you can become a journalist, PR specialist, content creator or blogger. You will meet practitioners and make valuable contacts that will open doors to the media world. You will learn:
- Create engaging texts for a variety of media, from articles to blog-posts to social media posts;
- create videos, photos and podcasts that engage audiences;
- learn the basics of audiovisual production, including camera work, sound and post-production;
- work with technology and software for media production;
- organise and manage media projects;
- gain work experience in real media organisations and projects.

Applicants take two tests, which are held at the faculty's premises in Trnava. The first test focuses on general overview and professional knowledge, the secondis a test in a foreign language (English or German). Holders of C1 and C2 certificates take only the general overview test. Students who have achieved an average of 1.30 during their secondary school studies are admitted without an entrance examination.

What subjects are waiting for you?
After successful completion of the Bachelor's degree, students continue on to the Master's degree.
Students who have studied a bachelor's degree in a related field at another university must take the entrance examination for the bachelor's degree in Mass Media Studies.
Students of the UCM FMK who have studied a Bachelor's degree in a study programme other than Mass Media Communication must also pass the entrance examination. Exception are graduates of the Bachelor's degree programme in Media Relations, they are exempted from the entrance exam.
External study is ideal for those who are working or who prefer a more flexible schedule. Classes are held every other Saturday, allowing students to combine their studies with work or family commitments.
There is a fee for external study. The tuition fee for 1 academic year is 800 €.
