Student Life

 

It is really alive at FMK UCM. The faculty offers many opportunities to get involved in activities beyond your studies. We support our students in developing their talents and interests through various projects and activities. These include work in student media, cultural and sporting events, as well as career and international development opportunities. All these opportunities allow students to discover their strengths and gain experience, but also to build friendships and make important contacts for the future.

The unique atmosphere of Trnava also has a significant impact on student life. This city is a historical jewel, but at the same time a modern student city - and you can feel it. Get tempted and discover what FMK and Trnava have to offer.

Faculty media

The student media we run at FMK UCM serve as incubators for the development of professional skills. They offer a safe environment in which students can learn the basics of creating and publishing content, from writing articles to producing video reports to creating jingles. Along the way, they are naturally introduced to working in newsrooms and gain the experience necessary to work in the media.

Many successful journalists, editors or presenters started in these newsrooms. Today they work for Radio Express, Denník N, JOJ, Emma, Radio Melody, STVR, Radio Viva, Markíza, Trnavské rádio, SME, Hospodárske noviny, Radio Viva and many other media.

Cultural and artistic activities

Students have three photo studios to experiment in, and then exhibit their work in the faculty gallery. They participate in photography workshops and debate with well-known photography personalities.

Singing talents can join the faculty choir, while folklore lovers can join the university folklore ensemble Trnafčan.

Sports and physical activities

Physical activity goes hand in hand with mental performance. Through the Cabinet of Physical Activities and Sports we offer various courses such as yoga, zumba or volleyball, which help  maintain not only physical fitness, but also mental well-being and concentration. True volleyball enthusiasts can join the university volleyball team and represent the university competitively.

In addition, the university building is adjacent to the athletic sports complex, where students can jog and actively relax in the fresh air.

E-sports and gaming activities

We systematically develop e-sports and gaming activities. Our club , TEDI BEARS, represents  school in various tournaments and is reaping success. In addition, students keen on video games and e-sports can participate in a number of voluntary practical activities, such as

  • Organizing the UniCon gaming festival,
  • creating games as part of the TEDI Games Studio activities,
  • collaborating in the organizing and media coverage of the UniCup university eSports league,
  • participating in game jams such as LAG Jam (PL), Bratislava Game Jam, Game Days Game Jam, CS Game Jam,
  • organizing Global Game Jam Slovakia, Trnava Game Jam and regular school jams and hackathons.

International opportunities

Studying abroad is an opportunity that every student should take advantage of. Thanks to the Erasmus+ program, you can spend a semester or a whole academic year at partner universities in Europe, with many benefits. During your stay, you will acquire valuable professional experience that will help you better prepare for your future career. At the same time, you will significantly improve your langueage skills, allowing you to communicate better in an international enviroment. What is more, you will see your field froma new, broader perspective and gain insight into current trends and methods in foreign education systems.

Studying abroad will not only open up new professional horizons, but also enrich your personal development and cultural awareness.

Career opportunities

Apart from the University Career Centre, FMK UCM in Trnava has its own Career Centre, which helps those interested in starting their careers. The centre offers counselling services and workshops to help you obtain the necessary skills and contacts to successful enter the labour market. Moreover, it collects and sorts offers of internships and job opportunities aimed specifically at the media, marketing and gaming industries.

Due to the support of the FMK Career Center, students have a better chance of succeeding in a competitive environment and finding a job that fulfills them.
