We're building partnerships and developing skills during International Week in Chania

FMK UCM is strengthening its international partnerships and developing the skills of both students and faculty through its participation in International Week in Greece, where it brings together education, practical experience, and intercultural cooperation.

In 2026, the Faculty of Mass Media Communication at UCM in Trnava actively participated in international activities by taking part in the 13th annual International Week in Chania, Greece. The event, organized by our partner institution, Hellenic Mediterranean University (Athena European University), welcomed approximately 400 participants from 100 universities and 35 countries.

The faculty’s participation was the result of collaboration between the Department of Language Communication and the Department of Marketing Communication. The FMK was represented by Dr. Katarína Ďurková and Dr. Denisa Kraľovičová, along with six nominated students. Dr. Lenka Labudová and Dr. Anna Hurajová also contributed to the selection and administrative support for the team.

International experience fosters both professional and personal growth

The International Week program was part of a (Blended Intensive Program -  BIP) titled Leadership and Soft Skills under the Erasmus+ initiative. “Its goal is to develop students’ leadership skills and cross-cutting competencies in academic, professional, and intercultural settings. The emphasis is on effective communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and ethical and inclusive leadership,” explained Dr. Kraľovičová.

The program consisted of a virtual mobility component (March 2–May 19, 2026) followed by an in-person mobility component in Chania (June 25–29, 2026). During this time, faculty members actively participated in international discussions, lectures, and the evaluation of student work in a global context. Students from FMK helped prepare presentation materials and presented their projects during workshops.

The FMK UCM is actively committed to developing international cooperation, improving the quality of education, and bridging the gap between the academic world and the current demands of the professional field. The program also provides participants with internationally recognized certificates that enhance their employability.
