Studies that make sense in the digital world: FMK UCM launches new programs
We are launching new study programs in response to changes in digital communication, marketing, design, and media. Starting in January 2026, we will be accepting applicants for selected bachelor's programs.
The Faculty of Mass Media Communication at UCM in Trnava has long been responding to developments in society, media, and technology. Modernizing education, linking theory with practice, and emphasizing current trends are among our main priorities.
That is why, starting in January 2026, we are opening enrollment for three new study programs that reflect the needs of today's labor market and prepare students for the challenges of the digital world.
Digital communication and responsibility
The digital environment has become the space in which our daily lives take place – from work and education to cultural and social events. This bachelor's degree program responds to these changes and offers modern education that combines digital skills with an ethical and critical approach to information.
It focuses on AI literacy, ethics, critical thinking, and digital resilience. It is not enough to know how to create content—it is also necessary to understand its consequences. The program trains experts who know how to use artificial intelligence effectively but also critically, who can anticipate the risks of the digital environment and contribute to a transparent and ethical society.
Psychology of advertising and consumers
How do customers think and what influences their emotions, motivation, and purchasing behavior? This new program combines psychology, marketing communication, and the fundamentals of neuroscience. It is designed for those who want to understand human behavior in the context of brands, advertising, and the digital environment.
During your studies, you will learn how to apply psychological knowledge in marketing practice – from advertising to the design of communication and sales strategies. Graduates of this program are prepared to work in marketing, media, communications, and consumer behavior research, where they can analyze audiences, design advertising strategies, prepare communication campaigns, and evaluate their effectiveness.
Public relations
We are the only faculty in Slovakia to offer a study program focused directly on PR with an overlap into media and digital marketing. We train experts in strategic communication for brands, organizations, and institutions. This program combines classic PR, media relations, digital communication, and management skills with an emphasis on practice and current trends.
The program is taught in English, allowing you to improve your professional English and expand your career opportunities not only in the local but also in the global market. During your studies, you will work on real-life assignments in the fields of PR, crisis communication, influencer marketing, and complex campaign creation. The program responds to developments in the communications market and also addresses topics such as digital PR, sustainability, social media, and the use of artificial intelligence in PR.
In addition to the above programs, we also accept applicants for these established programs:
Mass media communication
The study program prepares students for careers in media and the creative industries. It will improve their communication and analytical skills and teach them how to create various types of content. Graduates of this program are prepared for a wide range of career opportunities in television, radio, online, and print media.
They also have the skills needed to work in organizations and cultural institutions in positions focused on external communication, where they can effectively use their knowledge of communication and media. The program provides them with a comprehensive education and practical experience that makes them valuable professionals in the job market, capable of contributing to various media projects and campaigns.
Marketing communication
In this study program, students prepare for work in marketing, whether in agencies for clients or in the marketing departments of companies and organizations. The program is strongly linked to practice and offers an above-standard number of guest lectures, excursions to companies, and hackathons.
Several courses focus directly on digital marketing – from PPC to content and social media. In addition, we use modern study methods such as design thinking and project-based teaching in many courses. A wide range of elective courses will help you discover what you want to specialize in.
Theory of Digital Games
In the digital age, gaming has become a major business that rivals sports and the film industry. While studying digital game theory, you will understand how games work, how they are created, sold, and played. This study program will offer you the opportunity to build a portfolio of projects and activities and gain the experience necessary to enter the gaming business.
You will gain knowledge about game mechanics and player thinking. You will also collect useful contacts, because you will meet our graduates at every turn. Project-based learning will give you a number of high-quality outputs for your portfolio, so you won't be starting from scratch. Various events, such as Game Jams, will teach you not only about games, but also about how to work in a team.
Digital design
This professionally oriented study program prepares people for work as designers specializing in digital media. Students will gain knowledge of visual communication, improve their visual thinking, and learn to design attractive and functional interfaces such as websites, online applications, mobile applications, infotainment, and dashboards.
This program is strongly linked to practical experience through intensive cooperation with companies. In their final year of bachelor's studies, students complete a mandatory several-month internship, which helps them gain experience and kick-start their careers.
