The first episode of AfterLive is out. The music show opens the door to real-world experience for students
The new AfterLive project at FMK UCM combines music, media, and hands-on experience right in the studio. Students participate in the production of the show from the first shot to the final post-production, while also providing a platform for original creative work from within the faculty.
You may have already come across the name AfterLive in the university hallways. It’s a new music program that features guests—primarily from FMK UCM—and their original work. The format combines live performances with short interviews that offer a behind-the-scenes look at the music scene.
Behind the project is a team of students led by Dr. Patrik Kolenčík. The show is produced right at the faculty and bridges the creative process with real-world media production. You can already enjoy the first episode of the project on YouTube. More episodes featuring new artists and their original works will be added throughout the summer.
The Studio as a Classroom
AfterLive isn’t just content for viewers. It also serves an educational purpose that goes beyond traditional classroom instruction. Students get to experience the entire process of creating a music show—from setting up the stage to the final export. They work with equipment, cameras, and sound, and go through the entire production cycle just as it works in real life. The experience they gain in the studio helps them better prepare for careers in media and the creative industries.
The project provides a platform for young creators while demonstrating how education can be integrated with real-world media practice.
