Students Gained Media Experience at the FMK UCM
Linking education with practical experience can provide young people not only with new skills, but also with a realistic perspective on how the media industry works.
The winners of the Responsible Influencer competition were given a unique opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice. At the Faculty of Mass Media Communication at UCM in Trnava, they participated in a media workshop where, under the guidance of professionals, they tried their hand at the work of news editors and camera operators. They then presented their work in the university studios.
The competition was organized by the Council for Media Services as part of Media Education Weeks 2026. A total of 104 students from 25 schools across Slovakia participated. Together, they created 31 audio and video entries. They addressed topics such as advertising on social media, manipulation in the online space, and the credibility of influencers.

Practical experience from professionals in the field
The winning teams worked with media professionals, who provided them with valuable feedback and practical tips. They learned how to conduct interviews, work with video and audio, and properly formulate questions and texts. An important part of the workshop was also critical analysis of information, verifying sources, and taking a responsible approach to content creation.
The participants put their newly acquired knowledge to the test in a simulated press conference and subsequent teamwork exercise. They prepared their own interviews, dividing up the roles of editors and camera operators among themselves. They ultimately presented the results of their work in the FMK TV studio.
