The first JOB DAY in Trnava brought together UCM students and leading companies from the business world
Over the course of three hours, students, industry experts, and representatives from well-known companies gathered in one place. Together, they discussed career options, internships, and job opportunities.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the inaugural JOB DAY event took place at the Creative Center on Skladová 4 in Trnava. It gave students the opportunity to talk directly with professionals, find out what companies are really looking for, and make connections that could be important for their future careers.
The event featured 13 companies from the media, marketing, communications, retail, and business sectors. Among them were Bauer Media, DIVINO, ADM, KIRA, Kaufland, Bloom Robbins, MTT, Moja DM, Arthur Media, and Teach.
“The atmosphere at the event was very open and informal. Many students took advantage of the opportunity to network, make new connections, and gain a better understanding of what the job market in media and marketing looks like,” said Dr. Katarína Ďurková, one of the event’s organizers.

The key to success is motivation and soft skills
Company representatives agreed that what they value most in young people is a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn new things, and proactivity. Soft skills, such as communication, creativity, and the ability to work in a team, are also important. Companies also emphasize that while many technical skills can be learned over time, the right attitude and motivation are crucial right from the start of a career.
According to PR experts, it is not only creativity and communication that matter, but also the ability to plan and think strategically, as brand communication is often planned well in advance. At the same time, companies recommend that students not be afraid to seize opportunities while still in school, get involved in practical work, and clearly communicate what they want to focus on.
There was also some interesting advice on job hunting. “Company representatives pointed out that students often underestimate their own experience and fail to include everything in their resumes that might be of interest to an employer. On the other hand, grammatical errors or overly brief resumes have a particularly negative impact,” said Ďurková.
Internships as a stepping stone
Many companies also offer students internships and entry-level positions in fields such as content, digital marketing, sales, IT, and finance. As confirmed by several company representatives, internships are often the first step toward long-term collaboration and employment after graduation.
The inaugural FMK Job Day demonstrated that, even in the digital age, face-to-face meetings remain irreplaceable. The event created a space where students and companies could meet in one place—students had the opportunity to introduce themselves to multiple employers at once, while companies could meet many talented young people who could become part of their teams in the future.
